Green Valley Cocktail

Green walnuts from the verdant valleys of Ticino meet the original green fairy in this cocktail that tastes like a bag of liquorice allsorts.

The nuttiness comes from the Nocino, a spirit made with unripe walnuts and popular in Italian Switzerland—more in this post.

Inspired by our recent trip to Bellinzona, Locarno and Ascona.


2 parts Nocino

1 part Absinthe

Ice

Sparkling water

Lime to garnish


In an ice filled tumbler, pour in the Nocino and absinthe. Stir.

Fill to the top with sparkling water and garnish with lime.


  • It's also nice with a splash of orange juice instead of the fizzy water. Then it tastes a bit like the orange allsorts...
